GAO, Yichen

BA graduate from China

The undergraduate studies at CCS have been instrumental in paving the way for my pursuit of a master’s degree. The comprehensive courses and interactive tutorials have been invaluable in addressing questions and clarifying uncertainties. Moreover, the Capstone research paper writing has honed my critical thinking skills and prepared me for further in-depth research in my future studies.

GRAMATYKA, Marta Magdalena

BA graduate from Poland

Studying at CCS has definitely organized and deepened my knowledge of China and its different aspects, from politics to culture, economy, literature and society. The knowledge made me understand connections between different elements of China and made me realize that although there’s still so much to learn, it is not as confusing as I thought.

An, Hyerin

BA graduate from South Korea

CCS really encouraged me to learn how to look for different enterprises, assess their strengths and be able to tell whether I might be a fit to the enterprise. Professors are always supportive of the students and they were always there for me when I was lost in the career path.

ANDRES, Leonard Karl Maxim

BA student from Germany

Before I started my studies at the Centre for China Studies here in CUHK, China for me, was always a remote and foreign place out of my imagination. Little did I know at that time about the rich Chinese culture, language, history, and the political system. And when I started to learn more about it, I knew that the BA programme at CCS was a perfect fit to turn my personal interest into the focus of my studies.

“My favorite aspect of CCS program was diversity. Compare to other majors, we don’t learn ONE thing. We learn different aspects of China, e.g. culture, politics, language, business etc.”

Dayoung LEE

BA graduate from Korea,
Financial Analyst

“There were a lot of tough courses, but overall the experience was excellent. The most notable experience being in Chinese Studies was when a professor sparked a research interest during a fieldwork project in rural China. It was only supposed to be for graduate students, but I asked him and he was very welcoming and said ‘You can join us.’”

“Critical thinking is highly valued here. CCS professors don’t transfer knowledge; they teach you to make discoveries by yourself, and then they guide you to critique what you discovered.”

Tunningley JAMES

BA graduate from U.K.,
Pursuing Postgraduate study

“CUHK acts as a microcosm for Hong Kong itself. The hustle and bustle of it is great, as is the mellow tranquility of the mountains here. I love the paradox. It’s also really friendly, and you can network very easily.”
