MA Programme
The MA in Chinese Studies provides a platform for the study of Chinese art, history, politics, film, society, international relations, literature, and more.
The programme has two streams:
(1) Chinese Arts and Culture (CAC), focusing on film, literature, and art history
(2) Issues in Contemporary China (ICC), focusing on politics, society, and international relations
Students choose one stream when they apply, while still having the flexibility to take the full range of courses. This interdisciplinary approach helps prepare for jobs in media, business, finance, education, arts, government or non-profit organizations.
Each year, we have around 80 students on the programme, distributed evenly between the two streams.
The programme is primarily taught in English.
Programme objectives:
- To understand how different disciplines shape and how knowledge is produced in the field of Chinese Studies.
- To gain experience in research activities and an understanding of research ethics.
- To look at China from an interdisciplinary perspective and with an imaginative approach.
